Selling a property we'd rented out for 20 years, we wanted to know its actual condition prior to going to market. Daniel at House to Home was so helpful here. We got an in depth survey which highlighted any issues a buyer might try to use as leverage, together with recommendations of specific things to do, and look at and gather paperwork for - in preparation for the legal property information questionnaire we would need to provide as part of the conveyancing process. We got a valuation in current condition, which gave us the confidence to be strong in price negotiations - acting from a position of knowledge. Selling property is not something most of us do often, and with current markets being so unpredictable, it was reassuring to have a tangible, professional document to reduce uncertainty and provide a firm and demonstrable baseline to work from. This "Seller's Survey" is a new concept in England though part of the established process in Scotland, and I thoroughly recommend it for taking the pressure of uncertainty away, so you know before you start, what you're dealing with. The service we received from House to Home was excellent and I'm very pleased we did go down this route. Our sale is progressing and we're hoping for a speedy exchange and completion.
I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend House to Home for a survey. We got a level 2 survey done on a property in the Manningtree area. Communication throughout was always good, we were given reliable advise as first time buyers on what survey to go with and provided a sample report as well. When it came to the survey itself, House to home also took the time to explain things before and after the survey. They were incredibly thorough and although a level 2 survey looks at specified things I do feel like they occasionally go beyond this. They also provide photos of things whether defective or not which is helpful to see and not something other firms always provide
We opted for a Level 3 structural survey as the property we were purchasing was 500 years old with various extensions through the centuries! House to Home were neither the cheapest or the most expensive quote , but they did feel 'right' and Daniel was very communicative, and he followed up the survey with an hour and a half phone call. The report did take longer than anticipated, however Daniel kept me updated and it was well worth the wait! The survey was exceptionally thorough at 152 pages and, more importantly, was incredibly clear and written in plain English with diagrams and photos, so there were minimal questions. We consequently had a very clear understanding of the work that was required in the property, and also what the ongoing maintenance would entail. We are immensely grateful to Daniel as his clear and concise feedback enabled us to negotiate a price reduction on the property, which more than justified the cost of the survey. I would highly recommend Daniel and House to Home, to anyone who asked me!
Over the past six months, I’ve required two separate surveys fortunately both carried out by this company. The first quite literally saved us from purchasing a property we would likely never have been able to resell, ultimately saving us hundreds of thousands of pounds. We’ve since moved forward with another property, where he again delivered a detailed and meticulous survey, highlighting concerns while giving us the confidence to proceed. His attention to detail, professionalism, and comprehensive reporting are exactly what you need when making such a significant investment. I’ve already recommended his services to friends and family, who have all shared the same positive experience, and I’ll continue to do so without hesitation.
This was our first time buying a house and therefore we opted for a RICS home survey level 3 on a semi-detached period property. Daniel's communication both prior to and post inspection was thorough and incredibly helpful. Having since shared the report with other professionals, it is clear that the quality and detail of the report was of an exceptionally high standard. The report highlighted numerous works that needed to be undertaken on the property, and these were all illustrated clearly, with the addition of photos, and explanations about how best to address these issues, including expected cost estimates. Daniel’s advice proved instrumental in helping us renegotiate the purchase price based on the issues identified in the survey. His expertise gave us confidence throughout the process, and the savings achieved more than justified the investment in the survey itself. We would highly recommend House to Home to anyone looking for a detailed, professional and trustworthy survey service. We would absolutely return to Daniel for advice and support again in the future.
This is the first time we've used Dan from House to Home Surveys and we found him incredibly professional, friendly and thorough in his evaluation of our new home. Initially, we had a phone call to discuss any concerns we had from viewing the property ourselves. After he had liaised with the estate agent and done the survey, he also rang us to explain what he had found in detail, but without too much jargon so we fully understood. The report he provided after the call was meticulous and has given us a real understanding of the house we're buying. I wouldn't hesitate to use Dan and House to Home Surveys again and would recommend them to anybody.
When researching surveyors online, we found the House to Home website to be very clear and informative. The descriptions of the different types of survey available, gave us a good indication of the level of survey we may need before a potential property purchase. We then discussed our requirements with Daniel and he confirmed that a Level 3 survey would be the most appropriate option. The report he produced was extremely thorough, well-structured, and easy to understand. It included photographs highlighting areas and materials that required further investigation or attention, along with approximate costs for any recommended repairs. Daniel was extremely helpful throughout the process and even suggested specialists who may be able to carry out further work (in our case drainage teams). We would highly recommend their service.
