ICIRS Independent damp & timber surveys

Ian has been an absolute star. We used him for two damp and timber surveys when moving home over 2 years ago. The first report he did showed a high level of damp from one side of the property throughout which resulted in us not proceeding. He provided a survey on a different property and was extremely thorough from top to bottom (chimney to cellar) highlighting some issues that weren’t even part of the survey we asked him to carry out. He talked me through the report thoroughly and provided advice on who to go to for any remedial work, he made sure to assure me he was available to talk to if I had any concerns or needed further explanations. A new issue has presented itself and after calling Ian he happily provided advice over the phone and a contact for woodworm treatment, but has also been out to the property to check on suspected damp issues that have become apparent recently. He gave advice on what the issue may be and how to attempt to repair it. We would use no one else when it comes to surveys either with any issues with this property or if we move in the future. Would not hesitate to recommend Ian if you need a reliable thorough and honest survey. He has offered ongoing support and we feel fully confident that he will be available for advice should we need to ask.

We were experiencing water penetrating into our kitchen extension. Ian came recommended and we looked at the positive reviews before booking him. They were spot on, Ian was quick to respond, clear and concise advising what he could provide and booked in quickly. His communication was great and I was informed throughout. Polite and professional and very helpful. Still waiting for tradesmen to do the work recommended so can't say if the problem is solved but I'm confident if it isn't Ian will continue to assist and provide advice. We wanted someone to tell us what was required rather than a builder or roofer tell us we needed unnecessary work. We are now informed and can request suitable work. If I could give more than 5 stars I would as I can’t believe how lucky I was to find ICIRS to survey a property I’m in the process of purchasing. From the initial conversation to meeting Ian at the property his passion for what he does is clear to see and very infectious. When discussing the potential risks and issues Ian puts your mind at rest with the scope of work that’s required giving you a clear way forward whilst keeping with the period of the property. Also, the post survey aftercare is second to none, as the property I’ve purchased requires allot of work I would imagine I looked like a ‘rabbit in the headlights’ but to get a call a few days after the survey to ask how I felt about what was discussed was above and beyond what I expected. To say Ian is worth his weight in Gold would be an understatement, for somebody looking to take the step of buying an older property I couldn’t recommend anyone other than Ian at ICIRS.

Ian knows his stuff! If you’re thinking of buying an older property or somewhere that could have damp/water issues. Ian will thoroughly inspect, top to bottom and pinpoint where there are any issues or potential problems. On top of that he will provide a fantastic report with pictures of all the issues which provide a fantastic report to go back to when fixing up later on. On top of that, Ian is very generous with his time post survey, and is happy to give advise and ideas on what can be done to improve or sort the problems. Would not buy an older property without seeking his knowledge going forward!
