After instructing another surveyor to carry out a Level 3 survey on a home we were hoping to purchase, woodworm was discovered in the cellar. We contacted Simon to carry out a thorough investigation of the cellar area, and are very happy we did so. From the initial conversation onward, Simon was a joy to work with: transparent in his communication and always happy to answer questions. The summary he provided was completed quickly, was easy to digest, and contained clear recommendations for remedial work. We can’t thank Simon enough for the helpful and honest advice he gave us recently when we were faced with a survey that highlighted many unexpected issues. We were planning to buy a significantly extended and recently modernised 1930s property, but when we received the survey, completed by another surveyor, we were shocked to see so many unexpected red elements concerning the quality of the extension and replacement roof. We contacted Simon for advice after it became evident that further structural investigation would be invasive, and therefore not possible before purchase, because we didn’t want to walk away if the surveyor had been overly cautious or we were overestimating the potential seriousness of the points raised. From the first conversation, Simon was friendly and approachable and fully understood the dilemma we found ourselves in. He agreed to review the points of concern and call us the following day to discuss. The subsequent conversation was invaluable. Simon was so knowledgeable and went through all the points we’d highlighted in detail, giving his objective opinion and explaining things so we could understand the potential impacts. He confirmed that the points raised, were valid observations, and was able to expand on the potential risks/problems. It was reassuring to know that the points raised were valid, and his advice really helped us make a more informed decision about how to proceed. Going forward, we will be asking Simon to complete a level 3 survey on the next property we hope to buy. Very grateful for all the help and advice given, particularly at short notice. I wish we had found Simon much sooner. He was so knowledgeable and thorough when he came to look at the damp issues we have been having in our home. He pointed out issues that other damp experts hadn't even spotted, some of which were very obvious. He was really personable, and explained everything in a way that was easy to understand. He advised on an action plan, and offered to guide us through that when the time comes. Excellent value for money, I highly recommend.

I was recommended Simon (who I had never heard of) by a neighbour and contacted him because I had a problem with damp. He very kindly looked at some photos I sent and offered me advice by email. The advice was sound and I followed it and the problem was discovered and is now being fixed. I updated Simon and asked him to invoice me and he said there would be no charge. I was so surprised as he spent time looking at information I sent and considering what advice to offer me - not only that, but he responded during a weekend!
