Domestic Surveys carries out Level 2 and Level 3 Home Buyer surveys in the Bristol area, with Jon and Martin named repeatedly by clients, alongside occasional mentions of Matthew and Lee. Reviewers describe unusually thorough reports -- in one case running to almost 100 pages -- followed by lengthy discussions of the findings, sometimes lasting two to three hours by phone or video call, which several clients say helped them either negotiate on price or decide to withdraw from a purchase altogether. Techniques such as a boroscope inspection of wall ties are mentioned as going beyond what some other surveyors would check. As a surveyor in Bristol, Domestic Surveys holds a 5-star average from 190 Google reviews.

5.0 / 5 · 190 totalI can't believe my luck finding these guys. I'm a clueless first-time buyer who finds the whole process pretty overwhelming. I've now had two surveys with Jon (the first place didn't work out) and both times I've had the most thorough and detailed report, followed by a genuinely engaging 2-hour discussion to go through it all. Jon is passionate about what he does and makes an intimidating process so much more accessible with his patience and willingness to answer any stupid question you might have. Martin is also brilliant, responsive and really helpful. Could not recommend this company more highly.
Really happy with our experience of domestic surveys for our home buyers Level 2 survey. Martin was easy to get hold of; and was both friendly & professional on the phone and via email pre-survey. Lee completed the survey on arguably the hottest day of the year so far and we were very happy with the in depth written report he gave. It was thorough, had images to support comments and importantly answered all the things we asked them to check. He sent the report through quicker than their suggested turnaround time and offered a callback to go through the results. The call back was greatly appreciated as it enabled us to follow up on any comments made and to explore what we might need to raise with our solictor. The invoice system of full payment within 9 days of the survey being completed was helpful in managing our finances too. We wouldn't hesitate to use domestic surveys again ourselves, and to reccomend them to others. Thank you 😊
Not the cheapest but worth every penny they charge, Jon delivered a very thorough report followed by a call to talk through the report step by step. Couldn’t recommend Jon enough! - Level 3 survey
Absolutely fantastic service. Great from initial enquiry, communication during lead up and with Jon’s report and feedback session. Made a very comprehensive process clear, easy to digest and progress.
I can't imagine a way this process could be better. It is clear they are masters of their craft. Both Martin and Jon were with us every step of the way and provided so much detail. Every question answered. Besides helping me with my current purchase, I know the survey document will be a guide I return to for many years to come. Worth every penny.
I recently used Domestic Surveys after having an offer accepted on a Victorian property in Bristol, and I couldn’t have been more impressed. This is the 3rd time i have used them (once the feedback stopped me from buying a wreck). Jon carried out a very thorough survey and then spent a significant amount of time (3hours) talking me through everything in detail. His advice felt really tailored to the fact that I’m planning to take on some of the work myself, which I found incredibly helpful. He didn’t just highlight the issues—he explained what they meant in practice, how they could be addressed, and the common mistakes to avoid when carrying out repairs. He also provided realistic cost estimates, which made it much easier to understand the scale of the work and plan ahead. I came away with a clear, logical view of what needed doing, in what order, and what I could reasonably tackle myself versus where I’d need trades. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend Jon and Domestic Surveys
Jon was fantastic! He spotted the property needed wall tie replacement and we didn't need to pay for a further survey before our sellers would accept they needed doing, because he looked at the ties visible through airbricks with a boroscope - which I believe is above what most surveyors will do. The video call was invaluable and gave us real insight into the property. He was very good at breaking things down and explaining things. Martin was also lovely to deal with and very responsive! We are now first time home owners but if the sale had fallen through, we would have 100% used domestic surveys again.
