Gateway Surveyors

One of the poorest valuation experiences I have encountered. I believe Gateway Surveyors significantly undervalued my property by relying on the lowest comparable sales whilst ignoring stronger market evidence showing properties selling for approximately double. The inspection also appeared superficial. Only the kitchen and bathroom were photographed, with no meaningful photographs of the rest of the property or the improvements that had been completed. When concerns were raised, Gateway simply stood by the valuation without providing convincing answers to the specific issues identified. A valuation can determine whether a mortgage application succeeds or fails, so it is essential that it is thorough, evidence-based and capable of withstanding scrutiny. Unfortunately, that was not my experience.

Awful. We are in the process of re-mortgaging and the value that they have come to is £50,000 less than expected. The surveyor turned up and spent a whole 2/3 minutes walking around the property. Asked them if they wanted to see the garage, "no I know the properties around here". Asked them if they needed to see the loft hatches, "no I know the properties around here". We have been sent the report and they haven't even put the correct number of bathrooms and included an incorrect number for the length of lease term. If you get advised to use this company through a mortgage broker or on your own accord, AVOID AVOID AVOID.

Extremely poor. If you are getting a mortgage where Gateway act as the valuers then you are wasting your time. Their reports are widely inaccurate, to the point of including blatant lies. They will say they haven't been provided when documents when they have been sent directly to the valuation surveyor and responded as received. No part of our valuation was correct, including the property size, garden size, construction type etc. These people have their lives in your hands! They caused our mortgage to fall through as a result of their extremely poor service. I have reported them to the RICS for gross misconduct.

An outstanding surveyor team – efficient, thorough and extremely helpful from start to finish. The survey was detailed, the report clear and easy to understand, and communication excellent throughout. Friendly, professional and reliable service. I would highly recommend them without hesitation.

Our building society used these surveyors to complete a valuation, they valued much higher than we anticipated enabling us the building society’s most competitive rates. Was very happy, and the valuer was lovely too. Very friendly and knew the area well.

The worst Company I have ever dealt with, unfortunately my mortgage Company wants to use them, AVOID, AVOID, AVOID. Three times our valuation has been booked in and they cannot even manage to turn up, if I got a valuation, I know it will be awful anyway, shouldn't be in business. They ask for different people than you tell them, cannot follow simple instructions, useless.
