We had a boundary dispute with our neighbours, so we decided to commission a proper boundary survey to remove any ambiguity. When the team arrived, we talked through our concerns and pointed out the tricky areas. They then went about their work. The entire process was very professional and courteous. We had to wait a little longer for the report due to unforeseen circumstances, but the final report was exceptionally thorough. It included historical research, clearly explained the reasoning and methodology at each step, and provided measurements detailed down to the MILLIMETRE! Exactly the level of accuracy we were looking for. We had a couple of follow-up questions, which were answered thoroughly in a timely manner. We're very happy with their service and couldn't recommend them more. A big shout-out to Zaki and the team!

UPDATE 2: I made several attempts to contact Beau to discuss the legal threat he issued, but communication remained poor. I still do not know what the "allegations that we believe were inaccurate and potentially defamatory" referred to, despite asking several times for these to be provided in writing. The only prompt responses I received were the threats themselves. As Icon had stated that they would "not take any further action on my file", and my property had been left at risk with undersoil exposed to the elements below the collapsed area, I felt I had no choice but to instruct another surveyor. The difference was immediately noticeable - within 24 hours the new surveyor had responded, attended site, spoken to both parties, photographed the issue, and provided a clear remediation plan and next steps to both sides. UPDATE: Following the publication of my initial review, Icon Surveyors contacted me and stated that if the review remained published, they would instruct solicitors to pursue legal remedies. They also informed me that their staff would not take further action on my file. I am continuing to seek information and support regarding the situation. I am sharing my personal experience as a neighbouring property owner during works covered by a Party Wall Award administered by Icon Surveyors. Before the works began, Icon Surveyors visited my property, took photographs, and explained that the proposed development next door was expected to be straightforward and that the risk to the party wall was low. They also indicated that the wall would remain in place and that the works would be carried out on the neighbour’s side. Shortly after the construction work started, part of the boundary wall and a section of my tarmacked footpath collapsed into the neighbouring garden. Builders were present on my side of the boundary when I arrived home and saw what had happened. Noone had told me of the incident. I reported the situation to Icon Surveyors and asked for guidance and clarification about safety, temporary works, and next steps. At the time of writing, I have been seeking further information and reassurance from Icon Surveyors regarding the collapse, the condition of the remaining structure, and the ongoing works near the boundary. I have found communication challenging and have not yet received the level of clarity I expected during an incident of this nature. This review reflects my experience only. I recommend that anyone considering appointing a surveyor for a Party Wall matter ensures they are comfortable with the level of communication and support provided during unexpected events.
