Nik Taylor provided an exceptionally thorough and detailed Level 2 survey, giving us clear information and guidance throughout the process. The level of detail in the report was excellent and helped us understand not only the issues identified but also the likely implications and options available to address them. What really stood out was Nik’s willingness to go above and beyond to help us. He took the time to answer questions, explain findings in plain English, and offer practical advice and reassurance where needed. His professionalism, knowledge and customer service were outstanding from start to finish. I would highly recommend Nik to anyone looking for a building surveyor who genuinely cares about providing an in-depth service and supporting their clients throughout the process.

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ We honestly couldn’t have asked for a better surveyor. From the very beginning, Nik was friendly, professional, and incredibly helpful. Buying a house can be stressful, but he made the whole process feel so much easier by taking the time to explain everything clearly and answer all of our questions. The survey was extremely thorough, and the report was easy to understand. What really stood out was how approachable and genuine Nik was. He didn’t just send over a report and leave us to figure it out ourselves—he talked us through the findings, explained what was important, and gave us real peace of mind. It’s clear that Nik genuinely cares about his clients and takes pride in the work he does. We felt we were in safe hands throughout the whole process, and we’re so grateful for all of his help. We wouldn’t hesitate to recommend him to anyone buying a home. Thank you, Nik!

I would not recommend using Stoyan Taylor Chartered Surveyors based on my experience. Following completion of a Level 2 survey, we moved into the property and discovered widespread mould issues affecting multiple rooms across three floors, including mould behind and growing through wallpaper, around window reveals, on window frames, and in other areas throughout the house. None of these issues were identified within the survey report. When I raised the matter, the surveyor revisited the property. During the inspection, he used a Protimeter moisture meter and frequently referred to low readings as evidence that walls were "bone dry". However, where elevated (amber and a lot of red) readings were obtained (in areas where mould was present), the explanation was that the meter can produce false positives and therefore the readings were meaningless. As a client, I found this difficult to reconcile given this was the excuse used in all occasions of red readings. I found it bemusing that all readings in his favour were "accurate and correct", but all that indicated he missed a problem were "false meaningless readings". I was also surprised that areas around blinds had not been inspected during the original survey. Several mould-affected areas were located around window heads and reveals which could have easily be seen by just... looking around the blinds. When I consider a comment that was made by Nik when he called me to confirm completion of the survey which was "I feel bad because the survey didn't take very long at all", it's rather frustrating. The explanation ultimately provided was that the mould was the result of condensation and that the report's recommendation to install an extractor fan in the main bathroom adequately addressed the issue. Given the extent of mould found across multiple rooms and levels of the property, I did not find this explanation particularly convincing. The surveyor also suggested that the previous owners may have cleaned or redecorated before his visit, potentially concealing signs of mould. This is a purely speculative comment with no evidence, and is questionable in itself given that mould was found growing through wallpaper itself - which Nik failed to identify or raise in the report, despite it being very obvious from a visual inspection (please see attached photos). Notably, the surveyor's written response accepted that the condensation mould was present in the property before we moved in, but maintained that it was not present at the time of the original survey. On a personal level, I was disappointed by some of the interactions during the process. For example at one point, I mentioned advice from a family member who works in surveying for a local authority that was contrary to advice Nik gave, and was told: "to be honest, I don't give a shit what your family member says." I considered this unprofessional and rude. To Nik's credit, he initially offered to fund a further inspection by another Chartered Building Surveyor. However, when I asked whether a surveyor with no prior relationship to either party could be used, that offer was immediately retracted. I will let the readers make their own judgement on that. Overall, I was left feeling that legitimate concerns were dismissed rather than objectively investigated. Others may have a different experience, but based on mine I would not use their services again and would certainly recommend others against using them.

I have had three Level 3 surveys conducted by Nik in the past 2 and a half years (due to collapsing chains) and each time has been a fantastic service with excellent communication and provided reassurance during the stressful conveyancing process. He provided an overview of the property via a phone call within a day or two of visiting to give the key points, and to either flag any potential issues or to just provide peace of mind, ahead of a comprehensive and detailed written report. My most recent house purchase had included some issues later in the conveyancing process, when it came to dealing with building work highlighted in the survey, and Nik remained available and continued to assist with his professional expertise to ensure I could make informed decision with how to proceed. After 2 and a half years trying to move house, I don't anticipate moving again anytime soon! However, if/when that time does come, I will most definitely be contacting Stoyan Taylor.

After careful consideration and research the decision was to go with Nik for the Level 3 survey. He was responsive, professional and very informative. He called me on the day of inspection to give me a quick overview and sent the very thorough report through within good time. Would definitely use again in the future.

I've used Stoyan Taylor twice now. Both times Nik did an incredibly thorough and professional job. The best surveyor I've ever used.
