We commissioned Bennington Green to carry out a full building survey prior to purchasing our property in Bournemouth. Unfortunately, our experience left us disappointed. A significant section of the property's external wall, which is only accessible via the neighbouring garden, was not inspected or commented on within the survey report. We were never informed that this area could not be accessed. Had we known, we could have arranged access before exchange and completion. Since purchasing the property, we have discovered that this wall has multiple defects contributing to damp problems, including raised ground levels bridging the slate damp-proof course and fixings screwed directly into the brickwork, causing damage. We have already spent £1,250 on remedial repointing work, and we are now involved in a difficult dispute with our neighbour over the remaining issues. This was particularly frustrating because the survey also initially stated that the boiler was operational when it was not, requiring a second surveyor to revisit the property to correct that error. Despite the second visit, the omission relating to the external wall remained. In July, we sent a detailed email to Bennington Green explaining our concerns, together with photographs and evidence of the defects, asking whether the inability to inspect the wall should have been highlighted in the report. We also explained the costs we had already incurred and the ongoing difficulties we were facing. Unfortunately, we never received a response. We understand that surveyors cannot inspect areas they cannot access. However, our disappointment is that the report did not clearly state that this section had not been inspected or recommend that access be arranged before purchase. That information would have allowed us to make informed decisions before committing to buy the property. Based on our experience, we were left feeling that our concerns were not taken seriously, both during the survey process and afterwards.

Our choice of Bennington Green to project manage Greenway, the building contractor, employed to carry out major renovation works on our mansion block, was definitely the right one! The Project Manager, Danielle Bish visited the site two or three times a week to monitor the quality of the work being undertaken and utilized her highly developed personal skills to build an excellent rapport with the builders. Cultivating a productive, ongoing dialogue, Danielle has been able to listen to Greenway employees and advise them accordingly in relation to the inevitable unknowns that arise with such a complex project, encompassing a myriad of issues, ranging from pointing, repair to masonry and timber, replacement of rusty gutters to painting and decorating. The Greenway team have worked conscientiously and with pride under Danielle’s watchful eye and testimony to their professionalism has been the thorough preparation of various surfaces, for example, rubbing down to the bare timber for priming; there has been no cutting of corners all too common with some less scrupulous ‘cowboy’ builders. In addition, Bennington Green have provided us with regular updates about the works being undertake. It cannot be emphasised enough how Danielle’s communication skills with us as Directors of the building has proved of immeasurable value. In summary Bennington Green have inspired our trust and confidence in their ability to execute this renovation project to a very high standard.

Bennington Green (BG) were initially engaged to conduct a roof survey for the apartment block. The survey concluded that the flat roof had reached the end of its serviceable life and needed replacement; it further included that some itemised repairs to the pitched roof were required. BG were then engaged to prepare a specification, recommend potential suppliers and run a comprehensive tendering process. On completion of this process and selection of a roofing contractor BG acted as project manager/administrator for the project. Jordan Bull was our primary BG contact throughout the process and was excellent in every respect. His knowledge, attention to detail, communication skills and professionalism were always evident and he ensured that the roofing contractor met its obligations throughout the project. His input has provided us with the confidence that we now have a really good roof, something we could not have achieved without him.

When we were planning new roof for our property we both had no idea how out of our depth we were. Speaking to friends asking them for help for your organisation came highly recommended. From the onset your staff treated us with the utmost courtliness and professionalism. They took control of the entire project leaving us with nothing to worry about. In particular we worked closely with Jordan Bull and Jack Thompson Smith. Both were extremely knowledgeable and put us at ease by explaining technical details. We commend them for their high level of customer service which exceeded our expectations. When either Jordan or Jack visited or spoke to us on the phone, we felt we were speaking to friends! We believe this modus operandi extended to liasing with our main contractor ‘Aloft’ which generated a very harmonious working relationship between all parties. There is no doubt we will recommend Bennington Green to anyone else looking for unrivalled project management.
